Ok, so I recently got a Skype phone. I found some great ones at
http://www.amperordirect.com/c/c-internet-phones/index.html
and was caught between the Keyspan Cordless Mac skype Phone and the Yealink Fonaso W1DL Cordless Internet Phone, both in the cordless section. I bought the second one because it has a 30-day money back garintee and a one-year warrenty. Well, thank the gods I did because it's giving me a huge headache! When I plug it into my Xp machine, I hear the speech through the phone and not the speakers like I should. The instructions are all for the pc, but it said it works with the Mac as well, so I looked around and found that I needed to install SkyMacMate. But unlike the skypemate program for windows, this doesn't work well with the latest version of OS 10. It was designed for 10.3 and 10.4 and I have 10.5. So it locked up my computer and I had to get rid of it. Also, they said I should add Fonaso to my Skype contacts, but when I went to look for it, I couldn't find them. Maybe, I'll try it from my Windows machine, since I still have SkypeMate installed there.

Anyway, does anyone know of an alternative to this software that'll work with the phone? Has anyone here ever used a Skype phone and if so, which one? HOw is the accessibility of the phone? I'd really hate to be stuck using my computer as a phone with Skype, even though the built-in mic is great.

Ok, so I got some of the issues worked out. went to the user manual and figured out how to get the speaker to play the sounds instead of the phone and also how to set the mic to use the usb port as the default setting. However, it said I needed to go into tools, options and privacy in Skype and then click on the text link that let Skype use Skypemate. However, System Access to Go couldn't find that link. You heard right. Of all the screenreaders I have, SATOGO was the only one that would work with Skype. I have JFW 8 on my laptop, which is now being a perfect little angel to piss me off, but the laptop doesn't have a usb port! What fun. Still, I need to find another similar one so I can swap the hard disk cause the mother board is ruined and costs a small fortune to replace.
